Maryland state court system - The judiciary branch of state government includes four levels of courts. The highest court is called the Court of Appeals. The intermediate appeals court is called the Court of Special Appeals. The Circuit Court in each county and in Baltimore City is the trial court of general jurisdiction. Small cases are heard in District Court.
Office of the Maryland Attorney General - The Attorney General is the chief lawyer in the state. He is charged with representing the state in all matters in which the state is a party or has an interest.
